Jinzhou has been, and is today, a place of strategic importance because of its unique geographical location. It is not noly a dynamic modern port city among Bohai Sea area with an enormous potential in economic growth, but also a hub of west Liaoning. Covering an area of 10301 square kilometers with a population of 3.08 million, the city consists of two county-level cities, two counties and five districts.
Jinzhou bounds a very strategic geographical location. To the South Jinzhou faces the Bohai Sea, to the North Jinzhou nestles against Songling Mountain Range, linking the Northeast District of China (containing liaoning Province, Jilin Province, and Heilongjiang Province) to Huabei district of China (containing Beijing city, Tianjing city, Hebei Province and Inner Mongolia). Most of China’s railways (Beijing----Haerbin, Qinghuangdao-----Shenyang), highway (Beijing----Haerbin) and the expressway (Beijing-----Shenyang) go through Jinzhou. What’s more, Jinzhou wins the name of “an-hour city center” because it takes only one hour to get to other surrounding cities such as Fuxin and Chaoyang by No.102 national highway. Jinzhou Port is the northern most port of all coastal cities of China, it is a first-class commercial port ranking 20th among all Chinese ports. Jinzhou airport is the only civil aviation airport in west Liaoning with international 4C certification. Jinzhou has a quick access to all parts of China and the world since it has implemented regular flights to Beijing. Jinzhou’s geographical location with advanced transportation has not only strengthened economy and culture of Jinzhou and surrounding areas but also established Jinzhou as a logistic centre of northeast China and a central city in west Liaoning. In 2006, five dots and one line , a brand-new strategy to open up was put forward by Liaoning Provincial Government. It’s centered on five key development zones around Huanghai Sea coast and Bohai Sea coast and Binhai Highway which wind it’s way along the coast of Liaoning. Jinzou Xihai Industrial Park is one of the development zones, and Jinzhou Gulf will play a leading role in the development of west Liaoning coastal cities. What’s more, our provincial government has given and will give Jinzhou great support.
